Use of seed priming to improve Cd accumulation and tolerance in Silene sendtneri, novel Cd hyper-accumulator

چکیده

Changes in the environment as a result of industrialisation and urbanisation impact negatively on plant growth crop production. Cadmium (Cd) is one most dangerous metals that enters food chain, with toxic effects plants human health. This study evaluated potential Silene sendtneri novel hyperaccumulator role seed priming tolerance accumulation rate Cd. The effect different agents germination performance, root growth, seedling development, metal uptake accumulation, antioxidant defences including enzymatic non-enzymatic antioxidants has been assessed. Seed using silicic acid, proline alone or combination salicylic acid- enhanced germination, under Cd stress. same treatments induced an increase water content shoots roots when were exposed to response was specific for agent used. An ferulic acid rutin related concentration medium. malic oxalic increased significantly grown high concentrations compared low concentrations. can accumulate significant levels seeds are primed. best results obtained by 1% acid.
